The Miserable Rich have returned with their first new music of 2024: ‘Quietly’. The track opens with a sparse acoustic guitar arrangement that soon gives way to energetic percussion and cascading violin texture, as well as some mesmerising vocals courtesy of guest, Jennifer Left. On the track’s discussion of human resolve in the face of adversity, James de Malplaquet says: “I was writing about Sarah and I  – but clearly everyone has been through a challenging time over the last few years and the themes do seem like they might resonate. I think it’s actually quite a traditionally British sensibility – but I am quite sure there are people everywhere just going about their business despite the heartache they carry.” ‘Quietly’ has been released as an AA-side, alongside the equally excellent ‘We All Know’. Both tracks will be found on their upcoming album, Overcome, on February 2nd, 2024. -Dan Peeke
